Beautiful Gypsy Horses in the Beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains

The K-9 Crew

We are lucky enough to share our home with eleven wonderful rescue dogs, and have foster dogs in and out of our home often. We also run NCARES (North Carolina Animal Resource & Education Services), a non-profit animal rescue and education organization from our ranch.

These are the dogs of MVVR and NCARES. We love them dearly and are privileged to have them in our lives.

To see the other dogs at NCARES who need wonderful forever homes, visit the NCARES Petfinder site.

Gone But Not Forgotten

These are animals who have passed away while at NCARES. They are all at The Rainbow Bridge now waiting for the day when we will see them all again. Whether at NCARES for a day or many years, we are happy to have been able to show them the happiness and love that every animal deserves.

Samantha, AKA "Sam"

Sam was a French Mastiff (Dogue de Bordeaux) who was at NCARES from 10/9/05 until 1/2/06 when she died of heart failure. When she arrived at NCARES, she was severely emaciated and had Stage IV Heartworm disease. Her heartworms were treated, but it is thought that the severity of her condition and her overall poor health for many years contributed to her death at the young age of 4. Sam was a very loyal girl who never left your side. We love you Sam!

Gunner

Gunner was an 11-week-old German Shorthair Pointer who came from a shelter in TN where he was vaccinated. He had only been here about 24 hours when he started showing signs of parvo and distemper. Despite our quick initiation of treatment and round-the-clock care between our veterinarian and the emergency vet hospital, little Gunner died 5 days later. We gave him so much love in his short time with us and we are so happy he did not die in the shelter.
